Michael Mart

We are sad to announce that Michael Mart, Bennington Carriages founder, passed away peacefully on Saturday 14th December in the company of his family.

For over 60 years our father Michael was an inspirational engineer and designer. Always looking to advance the sport of carriage driving, Michael worked with numerous individuals and organisations to challenge convention and deliver excellence. From working with HRH Prince Philip to develop lightweight aluminium carriage wheels, developing the infamous Cinderella Carriage for Disney and creating simple, robust carriages for use at the Lost City of Petra, innovation and engineering excellence came as standard.

He was immensely proud to have built carriages for thousands of loyal customers across the globe, for both competition and pleasure and leaves an incredible legacy which we are proud to continue. On his last day with us, he was still sketching new ideas and designs which we are under strict instructions to progress in the New Year.

We are left with a huge hole in both our family and business but an abundance of incredible, happy memories with which to fill it. We are blessed to have had such a wonderful man as father, boss and backstepper.
